Home Brewing is great fun and the finished product will often be tastier and less expensive than many commercial ales!
By following a few simple instructions and with some basic equipment (available from home brew suppliers) you will soon be producing quality flavoursome ales!
'Old Elver' started home brewing in 1972 using a large saucepan and a large plastic bin...yes, it can be done!! Keep it simple...brewing has been going on for thousands of years!
Using simple techniques illustrated in the "images" section we have developed Malt Extract and Full Mash recipes which will produce tasty British Ales.
There are plenty of good books, Websites and Forums (http://www.brewuk.co.uk/forums/index.php) full of helpful information on home brewing...but to be honest a bitof trial and error is the best way to learn! Start with something basic and work from there.
The books we have referred to over the years and which set out easy to follow instructions are :-
Brewing Beers Like Those You Buy - Dave Line
The Big Book Of Brewing - Dave Line
Brew Your Own British Real Ale - Graham Wheeler
Brewing Better Beers - Ken Shales
